Zhejiang Forestry University finally ushered in the advent of 50th anniversary after 50 years of hard work and glory. On October 25th,2008, Yinjin campus and Eastlake Campus were abundantly decorated with flowers and balloons. Jubilation and excitement was strong in the atmosphere. The 50th anniversary of ZFU ceremoniously commenced. Thousands of students, teachers and alumni gathered in open ground of stadium cordially celebrating this grand event.

At about 8am -9am, with the fervent and passionate band music, high-rank officials, honorable guests, alumni and representatives of teachers and students entered the stadium in big parade. High-profile officials from all walks of life attended the ceremony including John Stockwell, Chancellor of South Carolina Upstate, and Shuichi Kawai, Director of Sustainable Humanosphere research institute, Kyoto University.

With school anthem playing and hundreds of pigeons set free, the ceremony began its overture. First of all, the host presented high-rank officials and distinguished guests. At about 10am, Party Chief of ZFU CPC committee announced the beginning of the ceremony amongst the rumble of salutary cannon. All attendees then rose and chanted the school anthem in unison. Li Yucai, deputy chief of national forestry bureau gave his congratulations and greetings in his speech. Chen Weishang, vice legislator in the province, Shaoyi, local government head, Wubing, party chief of Beijing Forestry University, Mr Stockwell, chancellor with university of South Carolina upstate as well as Shuichi Kawai from Kyoto University delivered their speech in succession and between performances by dances and singers. President Zhao Qisheng gave his keynote speech by reviewing 50 years history of ZFU.

On the ceremony, shows by students and teachers in ZFU as well as by professional performers thrilled all the audience and spectators. Ovations were heard time and again during the whole morning of splendid entertainment.
